This afternoon I headed back out for my last visit of the day to Little One's clinic. Our normal daily visiting schedule is: I start walking to the clinic around 8:45 each morning and stay between 45 minutes - 1 hour. After I walk back, Brant heads out. We try to do the same thing around 2:45 in the afternoon. This gives Little One a chance to take a nap between our visits and for us to all eat lunch together back at the hotel and do something fun. It also gets Brant back to the hotel from his 4:00 visit before dark. Sketchy after dark. I got a late start for my afternoon visit today so we decided to just let me do a longer visit and Brant skip his today. After I had been in the clinic about 45 minutes, the mother of the baby in the bed next to Little One started speaking excitedly. There is a full wall of windows in Little One's room that has been blacked out with paint. At some point, someone had scraped part of that paint off to make a peephole to the sidewalk outside. The other mother in the room was talking about something she saw through that hole. I quickly realized it was Brant with all the kids on the sidewalk. He had decided to walk over. None of the kids have been allowed inside the clinic so Little One has not seen them in person. Until today. She was SO, SO excited to peek at them through the hole. She jumped and called out "mi hermanos!!"
Little One's foster mother went out to the sidewalk while I stayed in the hospital room. She affectionately hugged and spoke with our children and introduced herself. Then she somehow convinced the guards to let Dakota and Gavin in to meet Little One. It was a very happy moment. The kids were all smiles. Maybe a little intimidated and nervous about the crowded room and our limited Spanish, but still very excited. Little One allowed them both to kiss her. Then she jumped back to the window to see her "Papi". I went outside to stay with the Littles so he could come in. She is such a Daddy's girl. She immediately went to Brant tonight and was affectionate with him. She enthusiastically showed Dakota and Gavin all the things we had brought to her in the hospital. You could see she was trying to impress them. She also took a ponytail holder from Dakota's wrist and put it on hers and made it clear it would stay there :)
I cannot post any identifying pictures. But I can put a couple of non-indentifying, right???
