Release!!!

Last night I was able to accompany Little One, her foster mother, our guide and our attorney to another clinic to meet with Little One's hematologist.  He is from another city and travels to Valledupar once every 2 months to meet with his patients here.  He evaluated her blood levels which were drawn last week and listened to her lungs and approved her for release.  He said her current hemoglobin levels make her safe to travel.  I was able to ask questions about her sickle cell medical history, her medication dosages and travel advice.  They also wrote a prescription to have filled for us which would provide us with over 3 months of Little One's medication.  I was so excited to have this visit.  It was one of the main goals we had while here in Valledupar.  The hematologist was not originally scheduled to be here until the 17th of November, but they requested he make a special trip just to see us before she leaves.  Thank you God!!!

Even more good news.  We are having our official Encuentro at 3:00 today at ICBF.  Little One will be with us from that moment on!!!!  It is amazing they have been able to arrange it on the same day as her hospital release.  We are rushing around trying to get ready.  Babies are being laid down for naps.  Brant is about to head to the bakery to order a cake and to Exito for drinks, cookies, plates, cups and napkins. The Encuentro is much like a baby shower for Little One so we need to make many very last minute preparations!!

We still do not know when we will be able to leave Valledupar.  Little One's minor defender, much like a guardian ad litem in the US, will make that determination.  Please pray fervently for favor with the minor defender.  We desperately want to be in Medellin by Saturday.  And while we are crazy with excitement over here, I know Little One's foster parents are grieving.  Pray for peace for them.

Ahh!!!!  It is happening!!!!!
